Refund & Cancellation Policy

When a booking can be cancelled, exactly what comes back and what does not, how the figure is calculated, how long it takes, and what to do if you disagree with our decision.

Effective from: 23 September 2026  |  Last updated: 23 September 2026  |  Applies to: This website and every service booked through it.
💡 In one line. You are charged only for work actually done. Our own service charge for work not yet done comes back to you. Money we have already paid out to a government office on your behalf does not, because it is no longer with us.

1. The principle we follow

Every rupee you pay us falls into one of two buckets, and the two are treated completely differently. We keep them separate on every receipt, so that you can always see which is which without having to ask.

BucketWhat it isRefundable?
Our service chargeWhat you pay us for our own work — explaining the route, arranging the Arya Samaj ceremony and the pandit, preparing and checking documents, filing the registration application, following it up and coordinating dates.Yes, in proportion to the work not yet done.
Pass-through chargesGovernment and registration fees, Special Marriage Act notice fees, challan payments, stamp duty, notary charges, photographs, printing, courier, and any amount paid to a third party on your instructions. No, once actually paid out.

This is not a clever rule written to protect us. It is simply where the money is. A government fee paid into a treasury challan cannot be recalled by us, by you, or by anybody else. Our own charge is ours, and what we have not earned goes back.

2. Cancelling before work starts

If you cancel before we have begun work, you receive a full refund of our service charge, with no deduction of any kind. There is no cancellation fee, no processing fee and no administrative deduction.

Nothing at all is charged for an enquiry, for a quotation, for a call about what a process involves, or for a checklist of documents. Those are free, they stay free, and you are under no obligation after asking.

3. Cancelling after work has started

If work has started, you are charged only for the stage actually completed, and the balance of our service charge is refunded. We tell you in writing which stage had been reached and how the figure was arrived at — you never receive a bare number.

Stage reached when you cancelOur service charge retained
Booking confirmed, nothing done yetNil — full refund of our charge.
Documents collected, checked and the file openedUp to 25% of our charge.
Forms prepared and the mandir date or SDM appointment arrangedUp to 50% of our charge.
Ceremony performed, or the application filed with the officeUp to 100% of our charge — the work is done. Government charges already paid are not refundable.
Work completed and the certificate handed overNo refund — but see Section 13 if you are unhappy with the work itself.

These are maximum figures, not automatic ones. Where less work was actually done, less is retained. If we arranged an appointment but nothing else, we do not charge as though we had filed an application.

4. What is never refundable

Wherever it is possible to do so, we tell you the amount of a pass-through charge before it is paid, so that you can make your decision while the money is still recoverable. If you are uncertain about going ahead, say so before we pay anything out.

5. If we cannot do the work

✅ You do not have to ask. If we accept a booking and then find we cannot carry it out — because it falls outside what we do, because a rule changed, or for any reason on our side — you receive a full refund of our service charge, plus any pass-through amount we had collected but not yet paid out. We initiate that refund ourselves and we tell you why we cannot continue.

6. If a government office rejects or objects

An SDM office or a Marriage Officer decides an application on its own view of the law and the papers. That decision is not ours to control, so a rejection is not by itself a deficiency in our service. What we undertake is this:

7. Changing your date instead of cancelling

Dates move. Somebody falls ill, a witness cannot travel, a family member's leave is cancelled. In almost every such case a date change is better for you than a cancellation, and we treat it that way.

Tell us as early as you can. If the mandir and the office can accommodate the new date, we move it, and a date change does not by itself cost you our service charge. Where a fresh government payment is required for the new date, that payment is separate and we tell you the amount before anything is paid. Where a date is changed repeatedly and work has to be redone each time, we will tell you honestly before doing it again.

8. When a refund is not available

Even in these cases, any pass-through money we still hold and have not paid out is returned to you. We do not keep money that was never ours.

9. Advocate fees

Where your matter needs an advocate and a fee is payable to that advocate, that fee belongs to the advocate, is payable to the advocate directly, and we neither collect it nor take any share in it. A refund of an advocate's fee is therefore a matter between you and that advocate.

What we will do is help. If a consultation you had fixed does not take place, tell us and we will take it up on your behalf and, if you wish, help you find another advocate. We ask that a consultation be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance so that the slot can be given to somebody else.

10. How to claim a refund

  1. Write to info@aryasamajcourtmarriagedelhi.com with the subject line "Refund request", or send the same on WhatsApp, or call +91 8376863962.
  2. Give us your booking reference or receipt number, the date of payment, the amount, and one line on why you are asking.
  3. We acknowledge within 24 hours.
  4. We tell you our decision, with the calculation, within 7 working days.
  5. If approved, the money is credited within 15 working days to the same account or instrument you paid from.

A refund is always made to the original payment method. We cannot and will not send a refund to a different account, and we will never ask you for an OTP, a PIN or a card number to process one.

11. How long it takes

StepTime
We acknowledge your requestWithin 24 hours
We decide it and send you the calculationWithin 7 working days
Approved amount creditedWithin 15 working days of approval
Your bank shows it in your accountUsually 2 to 7 days after that

12. Refund fraud warning

⚠️ Read this even if you never ask for a refund. No genuine refund ever requires you to install an app, share your screen, enter a UPI PIN, or "receive" money by approving a request on a payment app. Nobody from us will ever ask you for an OTP, a UPI PIN, a card PIN, a CVV or a net banking password. If anybody does any of these in our name, it is a fraud.

If it happens: stop immediately, share nothing further, and tell us on +91 8376863962 so that we can act. Report it also on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at cybercrime.gov.in or on the cyber crime helpline 1930. If money has already gone, report it within the first hour if you possibly can — that is the window in which a transfer is most likely to be stopped.

13. If you disagree with our decision

Take it to our Grievance Officer, who is independent of the person who handled your matter and who resolves within 15 days. Nothing on this page takes away any right you have in law.

If you are still not satisfied, you keep every right the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 gives you — including the right to call the National Consumer Helpline on 1915, to file online at e-daakhil.nic.in, or to approach the District, State or National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission having jurisdiction where you reside or work. You may complain where you live; you do not have to travel to Delhi.

Questions and Answers About Refunds

Can I cancel after I have paid?▼
Yes. If we have not started work, you get a full refund of our service charge with no deduction at all. If work has started, you are charged only for the stage actually completed and the balance of our service charge is refunded to you. Government fees, notice fees, stamp duty and notary charges already paid out on your behalf cannot be refunded, because that money has left our hands and gone to a government office.
What exactly is not refundable?▼
Anything we have already paid out to somebody else on your instructions: government and registration fees, Special Marriage Act notice fees, challan payments, stamp duty, notary and attestation charges, photographs, printing, courier and travel actually incurred, payment gateway charges that the gateway keeps, and any statutory tax already deposited with the government. Wherever possible we tell you the amount of such a charge before it is paid, so you can decide while the money is still recoverable.
How long does a refund take?▼
We acknowledge your request within 24 hours. We decide it and send you the calculation within 7 working days. If it is approved, the money is credited within 15 working days of approval, to the same account or instrument you paid from. Your own bank then usually takes another 2 to 7 days to show it. We do not send a refund to a different account, and we will never ask you for an OTP, a PIN or a card number to process one.
The wedding got called off. Do I get my money back?▼
Tell us as early as you can, because the answer depends almost entirely on timing. Before we have started, it is a full refund of our charge. After we have started, you are charged for the stage reached. If the Special Marriage Act notice has already been filed and the notice fee paid, that fee is gone, but our own charge is still calculated by stage. We do not ask why a wedding was called off and we do not make it difficult.
The SDM office rejected my application. Will you refund me?▼
It depends on why. If the reason was our error — a wrong entry, a missing annexure we should have caught, a form filed at the wrong office — we correct and refile at no further service charge and we bear any refiling cost our error caused. If the reason was outside our control — a document you could not produce, a changed requirement, an objection to the underlying facts, or a discretionary refusal — our charge for the work already done stands. We explain the reason in writing either way, and we do not charge again for that explanation.
What if you cannot do the work after accepting my booking?▼
Then you get a full refund of our service charge, plus any pass-through money we collected but had not yet paid out — and you do not have to ask for it. We do this ourselves, and we tell you why we cannot continue.
Can I change my date instead of cancelling?▼
Usually yes, and it is almost always the better option. Tell us as early as you can and we will move the appointment if the mandir and the office can accommodate it. A date change is not a cancellation and does not by itself cost you our service charge. If the new date needs a fresh government payment, that fresh payment is separate — we tell you the amount before anything is paid.
Somebody is asking me to approve a payment request to 'receive' my refund. Is that you?▼
No. That is a fraud. A genuine refund never requires you to install an app, share your screen, enter a UPI PIN, or approve a request on a payment app. Nobody from us will ever ask you for an OTP, a UPI PIN, a card PIN, a CVV or a net banking password. If anyone does, stop at once, share nothing further, and call us on +91 8376863962. Report it on cybercrime.gov.in or on the helpline 1930 — within the first hour if money has already gone, because that is when it is most likely to be stopped.
What if I am not satisfied with your refund decision?▼
Take it to our Grievance Officer, who is independent of the person who handled your matter and who resolves within 15 days. If you are still not satisfied, you keep every right the law gives you as a consumer: the National Consumer Helpline on 1915, an online filing at e-daakhil.nic.in, or the District, State or National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission having jurisdiction where you live or work. You do not have to come to Delhi to complain.
