One wrong document and your court marriage gets delayed by weeks. This 2026 guide gives you the exact, SDM-approved document checklist for court marriage in Delhi — for Hindu couples, inter-caste, inter-religion, NRI, divorcee, and widowed applicants.

Master Document Checklist — Both Bride & Groom

• Aadhaar Card — Original + 2 self-attested copies
• 10th Marksheet / Birth Cert / Passport — age proof
• Address proof — Aadhaar, Voter ID, Driving Licence, Passport, Electricity Bill, Rent Agreement
• 4 passport-size colour photos (last 6 months)
• Marital Status Affidavit — notarized on ₹100 stamp paper
• Joint Affidavit of Marriage — signed by both

Witness Documents (3 Witnesses Required)

Each of the 3 witnesses must provide:

• Aadhaar Card (original + copy)
• 2 passport-size photos
• Address proof
• PAN Card (optional)

Special Documents for Divorcee Applicants

• Certified Divorce Decree from family court
• Final Court Order showing decree is final
• Affidavit stating no appeal pending

• Affidavit declaring widowed status

No waiting period for widow/widower to remarry.

• Embassy NOC (in some cases)

Special Documents for Inter-Religion Marriage

Two paths:

Option 1 — Court Marriage: Standard documents. No religion change required.

Option 2 — Arya Samaj Marriage: Non-Hindu partner undergoes Shuddhi Sanskar. Then Shuddhi Certificate is issued, followed by Vivah.

Format of the Marital Status Affidavit

1. Name, age, address, occupation, religion
2. Declaration of marital status — "I am unmarried / divorcee / widowed"
3. Statement of free will
4. No subsisting spouse declaration
5. Signature before Notary Public
